Turn them off to ‘de-clutter’ the workspace and provide more space to display your work.
The right hand menu was the original menu system developed for Roof Wizard, and many users still prefer to find the functions there. If you want the menus to stay [On], then save the settings by selecting [File > Layout > Save Values]. The functions found there are exactly the same functions replicated on the Pulldown menu and the icon menus.
Menu Simple\Full
This function provides the ability to switch between a simplified menu system, especally suited for new users who might be confused with every single menu option being displayed in the ‘Full’ menu . Switching to ‘Simple’ menu turns off all the rarely used or obscure menu functions. Switching to ‘Full’ menu mode turns everything back on.
To simplify the appearance of the software, especially for new users we have the ability to turn some menu options on and off. This aids with instruction and learning.
Simple
Converts the menus to a simplified version, leaving off occasionally used or obscure functions, thus simplifying the operation of the software for ease of learning – shown below:
Full
Converts the menus to the full function menu system – shown left.
Read-Only
This is displayed automatically on installed software that is not registered. It provides the capability to review, edit and print reports and proposals etc. The Read-Only version may installed on any number of PC’s in the office providing access to everyone in the office.
More details are available at File > Layout.
If a full web license becomes available while in ReadOnly mode, a message box appears asking if you wish to switch to ‘Full Functionality’ mode.
Web Server Licensing
Roof Wizard provides for Web Licensing of the Roof Wizard software as standard.
All users with internet access are able to utilise as many licenses as they have available to their organisation, concurrently, from any location. This flexible licensing will work for all our users who have previously had to contact AppliCad to check licenses out when travelling, working from a remote location or taking annual vacation leave.
The web server licensing also provides improved accessibility of the software to all users in your organisation, thus ensuring the right tools are provided to the right resources at the right time. SImply install the software on the PC where it is required to be used.
Web Server Licensing of the Roof Wizard software is a standard function as described above.
We found out however that not all our users have access to the web at all times or the internet might be unreliable. So, to save any inconvenience from unreliable internet, we have provided a tool to allow you to check a license out of the license server, thus overcoming the need to be continuously connected to the web. This tool has also proven useful for customers who wish to ensure a license is reserved for one or multiple users, while a pool of shared licenses remains for the other users. The permanent users’ licenses are simply “checked-out” effectively ‘locked’ to the PC it is checked out to, with the remaining licenses left on the license server to be shared by the remaining staff.
You must be connected to the web to facilitate the ‘check-out license’ process.
The ReadOnly functionality remains unchanged by this enhancement. If you try to check out a license when none are available or while you are in ReadOnly mode, you get the following error message:
The key to success here is to keep track of your licenses via the License Manager on our web site. You log in to the License Manager at the AppliCad web site with your email address and password. At the bottom of the page you will see the status of your licenses. If you have four licenses for example, the License Manager reports the status – in this example, three are checked out and one is free to use.
How Do I Get it?
It is very simple – go to the AppliCad web site – www.applicad.com – and log in to the customer services area.
You log in using your email address and if you don’t know or can’t remember your password, there is provision to retrieve it.
Log in with your email address and your password. If you have not registered before or are not listed as the primary contact for your company, you will need to create a new registration.
The status of your current licenses is displayed, and at the bottom of the list is the button to the version of software you are entitled to access. If your support arrangements are in order and paid up, then you will have a button, [Download Roof Wizard version 9.n].
Once downloaded, (usually to your [Downlaods] folder), run the Roof Wizard install by simply double clicking the executable file name – Roof Wizard 90 me.exe (for the metric version) or Roof Wizard 90 ft.exe (for the imperial version) – you only install one or the other, not both.
The installation script will copy all the required files over the top of your existing installation, updating all the current utilities. The install DOES NOT over write any of your existing data or job files. However, simply as a matter of good house-keeping policy, you must make a back-up of all your files before you install the new software.
Once installed, the software looks across the internet to our license server and checks the status of your licenses. If no license is registered (and it will not be the first time you run it), the following dialog will be displayed:
Without any registration, you can run in ReadOnly mode – you would do this if you simply wanted to open, check and perhaps print an existing job.
In our case, we want to register, so select the Check ID’s button and you will be prompted to insert the ID’s from your My Licenses page.
You must then insert your unique Company ID and your User ID, and this information is displayed at the bottom of the page. If any of your users are not listed, then you must email AppliCad and let us know who they are so that we can add them to your user list.
Insert the respective codes provided and you will be all set.
Manage User Codes
At the bottom of the License Manager page is the summary of your registered users and their IDs, plus the unique company ID. (The ID’s displayed below are dummy codes and do not work, so don’t waste your time trying).
If you ever need to change the company ID or add a new user, open the software, go to Help > About Software and a dialog box similar to that below is displayed:
Once your software is registered your online license manager page will have a summary displayed of how many licenses are connected and by whom.
Read-Only Mode
This is displayed automatically on installed software that is not registered. It provides the capability to review, edit and print reports and proposals etc. The Read-Only version may installed on any number of PC’s in the office.
More details are available at File > Layout.
If a license becomes available while in ReadOnly mode, a message box appears asking if you wish to switch to Full Functionality mode.
